Acupressure influences and balances the flow of "qi" (pronouned 'chee') energy throughout the body by pressing on points
of the meridians (pathways of energy flow) using the thumb and fingers. When pressed and stimulated, these points relieve muscular tension and promote the release of endorphins; neurochemicals that relieve pain. Acupressure uses the same points and meridians as acupuncture but no needles are used. This is the Chinese version of Shiatsu. |
